Piper Barry, M.S. - Consultant
Piper Barry, M.S. (she/her), is a Consultant at TFC Consultants, bringing a wealth of experience in working with young people and their families. She holds a B.A. in Family and Human Services from the University of Oregon and an M.S. in Counseling from Oregon State University (2006).
Since 2007, Piper has been dedicated to empowering youth and supporting families through her work as a therapist and Team Lead at TFCO. She also provided invaluable mental health services, crisis management, advocacy, and transition support to youth offenders with the Lane County Division of Youth Services.
In 2013, Piper relocated to South Korea, where she broadened her expertise by teaching English and offering counseling services to expatriates, assisting in their adjustment to life overseas. Rooted in her multicultural background, Piper is fascinated by cultural nuances and adept at addressing the unique challenges faced by individuals and families in diverse settings.
Back in Oregon, Piper continues her work at TFCO while maintaining a small private practice supporting expatriates. Her interests include travel, coastal trips, family time, and everything related to dogs!
Kymberlea Broten - Consultant
Kymberlea Broten is an experienced leader in child and family services, serving as a Foster Care Program Director, TFCO Consultant, KEEP Champion, and Co-Chair of the Oregon Alliance Juvenile Justice Affinity Group. With two decades of dedicated service in the field, Kymberlea has honed her expertise in implementing, coaching, and training TFCO model-specific interventions over the past 15+ years.
Her work is characterized by a strong focus on program development and systemic changes aimed at enhancing client care and expanding access to essential services. Kymberlea's contributions also include developing systems and processes designed to support positive outcomes and foster growth within the communities she serves.
A native Oregonian and proud alumna of the University of Oregon, Kymberlea's commitment to her home state is evident in her ongoing efforts to improve the lives of children and families throughout Oregon.
Mary Laws - Consultant
Since 1989, Mary Laws has been an integral part of TFCO, starting initially as a Foster Parent. Through this role, Mary has gained profound insights into personal growth and the development of the children under her care. While some days present significant challenges, she has always found working with Treatment Foster Care Oregon deeply rewarding.
Currently, Mary serves as a consultant with Treatment Foster Care Oregon, leveraging her extensive experience to provide expert guidance and support. She is passionate about engaging with like-minded individuals who share a commitment to supporting children, and she takes great satisfaction in discussing TFCO with others. Mary emphasizes the vital role they can play in these young lives and underscores the comprehensive support provided by TFCO.
With a vision for TFCO's global expansion, Mary firmly believes it to be the most effective program for youth. Drawing from her extensive experience, she has had the unique privilege to witness firsthand the substantial positive impact TFCO has on shaping the lives of these children.
Theresa Mayne - Quality Assurance Specialist
Theresa brings over 15 years of experience in project related research focusing on improving outcomes for children, adolescents and families, to her role as Quality Assurance Specialist at TFC Consultants, Inc. Theresa discovered a passion for observational research as a research assistant for a marital interaction study while completing her B.S. degree in psychology at the University of Oregon. Upon graduation, Theresa continued her career in research at the Oregon Social Learning Center and the Center for Research to Practice as an Observer/Coder, Coding Coordinator, Project Coordinator, and Human Subjects Officer.
In 2009, Theresa joined a team of independent evaluation specialists to conduct fidelity assessments and certifications for teams implementing TFCO. Theresa continues to enjoy her work supporting TFCO teams as a Quality Assurance Specialist at TFC Consultants Inc.
Theresa loves life in the Pacific Northwest. She spends as much time as she can with her family (including her dog, Whisper) and friends, and is passionate about her volunteer work with Joys of Living Assistance Dogs.
John Peterson - Consultant
John Peterson's journey in the foster care sector began immediately after college when he joined Pierce County Alliance in Tacoma, Washington, as a Skills Trainer through AmeriCorps. This initial role sparked a lifelong dedication to supporting children in foster care.
Since 2008, John has been a passionate advocate and practitioner of the Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) model. Starting as a Skills Coach with Eugene, Oregon's TFCO team through Oregon Community Programs, John has immersed himself in every facet of the model over the past 17 years. His deep commitment to the TFCO model has made him one of the longest-serving TFCO Skills Coaches worldwide. John continuously works with at least one Skills Coach client to maintain a direct connection with the youth he serves.
At his agency, John wears many hats and is certified in various parent-support groups, including KEEP and Parenting Through Change. He played a pivotal role in launching the KEEP program within Oregon Community Programs and has successfully led over 30 groups as a group leader.
John's consulting career began in 2009, primarily as a trainer. Since then, he has successfully guided several sites from readiness to certification, sharing his expertise and passion for the TFCO model.
Outside of his professional life, John enjoys sharing his geeky hobbies, such as Magic the Gathering, gaming, bike rides, and movies. He and his wife love exploring the wilds of Oregon and beyond through hiking and camping.
Three years ago, John and his wife became certified Foster (Resource) Parents, providing respite care for youth in the challenging "temporary lodging" category. This passion for helping kids in care has even extended to his family; inspired by John's dedication, his parents became certified foster parents in Minnesota, where he was born and raised.
John's lifelong commitment to foster care and the TFCO model continues to inspire those around him, making a positive impact on the lives of children and families.
Lindy Ross, M.S. - Consultant
Lindy Ross, MS, brings a lifetime of resilience and dedication to her work with vulnerable youth and families. As the child of a Navy servicemember, Lindy was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and spent her early years living in several states and overseas before moving from Japan to San Diego, California, at the age of 12. She later attended California Baptist University on a basketball scholarship, earning both her Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.
For more than two decades, Lindy has been deeply involved with Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO). Her extensive experience includes roles as a Recruiter, Trainer, PDR Caller, and Team Leader. Since 2013, she has served as a consultant with TFCC Inc., contributing her expertise to support foster care programs and the children they serve. Lindy is continually inspired by the dedication of foster parents who provide safety, stability, and healing to children and youth who have experienced trauma. She finds immense fulfillment in being part of a team that is making a tangible difference, building on the strengths and skills of young people while offering them hope for a brighter future.
In her personal life, Lindy lives in San Diego with her rescue Yorkie, Harley, whom she adopted at two years old. A passionate sports fan, she enthusiastically cheers for the San Diego Padres, the SDSU Aztecs basketball and football teams, and the Los Angeles Chargers. She also has a deep appreciation for authentic Mexican cuisine, with a particular fondness for beans, rice, and cheese burritos.
Lindy’s guiding belief is simple but powerful: “Every human being needs someone who admires them.”
Carly Veith, M.S. - Consultant
Carly is a graduate of the University of Oregon's Couples and Family Therapy Master’s Program. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Supervisor based in Eugene, Oregon. She has worked as a clinician for TFCO since 2001 and has been a TFCO consultant for more than 15 years, and also has a small private practice with a focus on treatment for teens, adolescents and young women. In her free time, Carly loves to travel, spend time in nature and enjoys the company of family and friends, both furry and human.
